The selection voluntarily emphasises the particularly dynamic Ukrainian documentary scene.

Even though the position of women in the film industry has evolved over the past years favoring equality, much work is left to be done. Discover a selection of first and second films directed by French and African women in order to make room for their views on our society. A collection of films to challenge misconceptions, prejudices and to support the artistic legitimacy of a new generation.

Restored films Cinémathèque Afrique

Since 2018, the French Institute and the CNC have launched a plan to restore and promote African cinematic heritage with the aim of returning heritage films to screens, in particular from the collections of the Cinémathèque Afrique of the French Institute, and the CNC collections. The restored films are made available to the general public in Africa, France and around the world. Thus, to date, 23 films have been restored and programmed in prestigious festivals including Cannes Classic’s, Lumière and Le Fespaco.
