La Résistance, à l'épreuve du temps

The Resistance, as a fraction of the dark years of the Occupation, is one of the issues of memory still alive. As a glorious memory, it has been instrumentalized since the Liberation, particularly by the political class, with the connivance, even complicity, of those who were genuine Resistance fighters and those who were content to be Resistance fighters at the right time. Subsequently, it was to leave its mark on most of the governments of the Fourth and Fifth Republics before its memory gradually faded to make way for the questioning of France's Occupation and the denunciation of the darkest aspects of the Collaboration. It is to the evolution of this memory that Pierre Beuchot has attached himself by asking former resistance fighters, prestigious or anonymous, to comment on the great events that involved them and that have marked French history over the last sixty years. Through their testimonies, the Resistance can finally say what it was fundamentally and what remains permanent.
