Tunis, 1942, the German army enters Tunis. Continuing the Vichy policy, the Nazis subject the Jewish community to a heavy fine. Nour and Myriam, 16, have been friends since childhood. They share the same house in a modest neighborhood where Jews and Muslims live in harmony. Each secretly desires to live the life of the other: while Nour regrets not going to school like her friend, Myriam dreams of love. She envies Nour's engagement to her cousin Khaled, a sort of shared fantasy of Prince Charming. Unfortunately, Khaled can't find a job. The engagement is prolonged and the prospect of a carnal union becomes distant.
