In June 1940, when the Germans are at the gates of Paris, Odile, a teacher, gives in to the general panic and flees with her two children, Philippe and Cathy, on the roads of exodus. Following a Stukas attack, the little family, which has lost everything, meets Yvan, a strange teenager with a shaved head, dressed as a clown. The four of them end up in an abandoned house without electricity where, temporarily cut off from the world, they are forced to survive and left to their own devices, they will experience a strange war...
