In 1922, Marcel Proust, on his deathbed, looks at photographs. He remembers his life. But the characters of reality are mixed with those of fiction. And fiction takes precedence over reality. His life only has meaning in the reality of his work and his work scrolls before his eyes. The happy days, the lost paradises of his childhood alternate with the closest memories. Thus the drama of the war, observed from the Paris of worldly clans, changes into a vast human comedy. And in the twilight, we see on the horizon what will become the post-war society.
