Le Havre. A deserter from the Colonial Army meets a young girl who is trying to escape from a dubious tutor. They fall in love and dream of escaping together to the other side of the ocean. A bad fate prevents them from doing so: Jean is killed by a thug, not far from the boat that was to take them away. Adapted from the novel by Pierre Mac Orlan -1927.
