Niafunké is the kingdom of Ali Touré Farka, in the north of Mali, on the loop of the Niger, between the sand and the river. Rhythmed by testimonies and concerts of the musician, nicknamed in the West the desert bluesman, this meeting makes us discover his life and his gift for music. For him, the axis of the world does not pass through the big metropolises, but rather somewhere in the Circle of Niafunké, this river crossroads of the Loop. He tells us about this territory where so many peoples and cultures have lived side by side since the dawn of time, and also about his encounter with the geniuses of the river. It is in this magical and mixed universe that this man evolved. Having become famous thanks to his African blues, Ali Farka Touré invests everything he earns in his native Mali. Marx Huraux's documentary is a journey to listen to the traditional music, influenced by soul and American blues, of a great international musician.
