For more than twenty years, Robert Guédiguian has been making films that hold an essential place in French cinema. He evokes, film after film, the social chronicle of the working class world of his childhood. His cinema resists, with the weapons of tenderness, fraternity and love, the collapse of the values of solidarity. This filmed portrait draws on the unique experience of 25 years of cinema and living together with his friends and main actors, in the very settings of the shootings of a dozen of his films, in particular, in Marseille and l'Estaque. Alongside Ariane Ascaride, Gérard Meylan, Jacques Boudet, Jean-Pierre Daroussin, tells the story of an adventure rich in reflections on the profession of filmmaker, political commitment, the intimate links between real and fictional characters, and a common desire to create. In this way, documentary reality is blended with film extracts that appear as flash backs of their real lives.
