During the First World War, in September 1914, in a Paris deserted by its inhabitants, the Princess de Bormes becomes an ambulance driver and takes in wounded soldiers in her mansion converted into a hospital. Thomas, a second lieutenant who introduced himself as a nephew of the aristocratic and renowned General de Fontenoy, offered to help her in her mission. The young man's concern for the princess arouses jealousy and curiosity in her entourage. It is thus that one discovers that he is only a commoner, but nobody reveals the trickery, because his devotion is without limits: Thomas will go to fight at the front where death awaits him... Adaptation of the novel by Jean Cocteau.
