Self-portrait. In 1995, JLG shows the filmmaker at home in his everyday activity. We see him writing, reading, putting paintings in parallel, working on the editing of a film. He is both in front of and behind the camera. "What is a self-portrait? Only painting has given an answer. Rembrandt, or Mrs. Vigée-Lebrun used to make their self-portrait to show themselves to others, but it was also a way to look at their own painting. I think that here I was allowed, unlike the others, to try to film, to record thoughts, which is what cinema is made for. »
