Les Fables de la Fontaine - Bob Wilson
19 fables by La Fontaine directed by Bob Wilson at the Comédie Française. Born of the collaboration between Marcel Bozonnet, administrator of the Comédie Française, and Bob Wilson, the staging of La Fontaine's Fables is a first for this theatre: the whole wild, enchanted and metaphorical universe of the fabulist makes its entrance on the stage of a refined set under diaphanous lights and the music of Michael Galasso. The cicada, the raven, the lion, the fox, the lamb, the mouse... all the amusing bestiary invades the stage as they go along under masks that sum up their whole being and promote the aesthetic perception of the fables. The text itself is more to be seen than to be heard, leaving the floor to the animal and less to the moralist. La Fontaine, embodied by Christine Fersen, becomes a little less moralist than the king of an imaginary universe fascinating by its truth.
