December 1965 in Paris. In the climate of the presidential elections, Paul returns from military service. He starts looking for a job and militates against the war in Vietnam. He was in love with Madeleine, a young singer who was more concerned with his success in the profession than with his friend's sentimental demonstrations. Paul ended up finding a job at a polling institute where he was asked to carry out a survey on the main concerns of the French people. He temporarily lived with two of his girlfriends.
