1861. The Civil War raged in the United States. A family of French settlers decides to flee Missouri where they have been living for 20 years. Edmond, Madeleine and their three daughters have to cross the country to reach New York where a boat is waiting for them to take them back to France. Victor, a former mercenary with mysterious behavior, is in charge of ensuring the safety of the trip.
