Des journalistes au procès Papon

Parallel to the Papon trial, which highlighted the responsibility of senior officials of the Vichy regime in the persecution of Jews during the Second World War, the film shot over a period of 6 months, from October 1997 to April 1998, features journalists, columnists, judicial cartoonists whose mission was to bring to the public the facts of one of the greatest trials in history. We discover how the journalists, forming a real behind closed doors, argue or ally themselves around the information, how they spy on or intoxicate each other... The infinite length of the trial added to the editorial pressure, pushes them to anticipate daily events, to want to bring new elements to the debate, to make the trial of Maurice Papon outside the Court of Assizes! Witness hijackings, disclosure of their statements, so many polemics and coups de théâtre that disrupt the order of the trial and plunge us into the very heart of the problems of the exercise of the judicial chronicle. Audiences reveals both the behind-the-scenes of the trial and the behind-the-scenes of the journalist's job.
