In the French provinces, nowadays. In his parents' farm, Martin, 11 years old, witnesses the disintegration of his family. His mother, closed to the world around her, lives cloistered in her room. His older brother, whom he worships, is drowning in alcohol, and his father, under the influence of his grandmother, is only a powerless spectator of the family's decline. Resisting despair, Martin finds refuge with his cat Mistigri and Malika, the Moroccan maid to whom he is very attached. But neither their affection, nor his will to understand and help his family, can slow down the inevitable march of this tragic summer. Martin prepares to put an end to all this confusion...
