Antoine, a printing worker, loves Antoinette, a pretty and flirtatious saleswoman in a department store on the Champs-Elysées, in poor post-war Paris. Their settled and happy life, made up of little things, kindness, a little jealousy and dreams too, comes close to tragedy in the form of a lost but eventually found lottery ticket.
