Portrait of Julia Kristeva, teacher, essayist, psychoanalyst, novelist. Born in Bulgaria in 1941, she arrived in France in 1965 where she discovered semiology with Claude Levi-Strauss and Roland Barthes and then psychoanalysis with Jacques Lacan. François Caillat portrays Julia Kristeva as a strange foreigner who chose exile to get to know herself better and cultivate herself. He brings together what makes this woman's world of reflection extraordinary : the way she looks back on her childhood, the reflection she leads around language and her personal experience as a foreigner are all elements she uses to observe the language. She herself does not like to speak her mother tongue, which she uses in too conventional a manner, preferring to express herself in French.
