A clever little crook manages to pass himself off as a site manager responsible for the construction of a section of motorway. He dupes a whole region, hires workers and cynically profits from his swindle before meeting a woman, the mayor of a small town through which his route passes. She disturbs him, weakens him, and reveals a world he did not know: feelings. How far will he go to save his victims, to save himself from his lie?
