A beach in Brittany in August. A 45-year-old man is building a sand castle. Three people are watching him, Jumbo, a child, François, the builder's younger brother, and Zaza, the sister of the two men. The film follows each of the three in turn, and a pattern emerges that connects them: all have been marked by the death of a loved one.
