Antoine Doinel is a proofreader in a printing company, he is now more than thirty years old. He is divorcing Christine because he is in love with Sabine. Colette has become a lawyer, she is in love with a bookseller, Xavier, from whom she buys Antoine's novel. Antoine sees Colette again and tries to reconnect with her. She refuses. Sabine blames Antoine for her escapade. Antoine sees his mother's lover again and they go together to Mrs. Doinel's grave.
