"Josepha" is the eponymous first installment of a documentary series exploring the experiences of Black women in Europe during the 1970s. Through her beauty salon, Josepha Jouffret—a pioneering esthetician and early advocate of the natural hair movement—fights to empower her Afro-descendant clientele to embrace their Black identity, resisting the pressure to conform to white, European beauty standards.
