A few minutes from Venice, Raymond Depardon set up his camera at San Clemente, in a dilapidated psychiatric hospital built in the days when the only solution for the mentally ill was confinement. Shot shortly before it closes and during the carnival, the film follows the exchanges between caregivers, patients and families. Journey to a forgotten country, in the heart of madness.
