On the soundtrack, the text said by Marguerite Duras evokes the city of Caesarea, in Palestine, and Berenice, the "queen of the Jews", "repudiated for reasons of state". The image strip alternates fixed shots of statues in the Place de la Concorde, or of hieroglyphics on the Obelisk, with traveling shots in the Tuileries gardens, notably along the statues of Maillol.
