Camille Morestan is an honourable Parisian shopkeeper appointed as a juror for the first time. He has to decide on the case of Nathalie Roguin who killed her lover. Camille is convinced that the young woman is innocent and pleads her case to the other jurors. Nathalie is acquitted and Camille offers her a job under an assumed name in his shop. But the presence of this disturbing young woman causes dramatic incidents that are calmed by the love of Claude, Camille's son.
