London 1900. Irwin Molyneux, the serious professor of botany, is none other than Felix Chapel, author of detective stories. The Bishop of Bedford, Irwin's cousin, does not like this kind of literature and says so loudly at a dinner party where he is invited to the Molyneux home. The absence of Margaret, the Molyneux's wife, at this dinner, triggers a series of amusing misunderstandings.
