ACID celebrates its 30th anniversary

ACID, an independent vision of French cinema

13 films

Created thirty years ago, the ACID (Association of independent cinema for its diffusion) celebrates its anniversary. Each year, ACID filmmakers support and support around twenty new feature films made by other filmmakers, French or international. Choosing these films is for them to ask themselves the question of the renewal and plurality of gazes by giving visibility to insufficiently distributed works, and by offering an alternative to hyper-concentration and a single gaze. Two new films will join this collection of fifteen titles at the end of the year, for which the Institut français has acquired the non-commercial rights, with the aim of circulate and promoting the quality and diversity of young French creation.

Just one year ago, citizens joined together at Place de la République in Paris to demonstrate against labor reforms, the El Khomri law. This rapidly became an opportunity to invent another way of handling politics. It was the beginning of Nuit Debout. The film follows closely this social movement's inner core, a new kind of citizen's and democratic parliament, without representatives or leaders, which attempts to allow everyone the chance to speak. How do we speak in unison without speaking with a single voice?
